Here is a thought…
“These days, cameras are so smart that all you really need to do is set the thing on auto then point and shoot”.
I really think that this is true and if you work that way then you will get great pictures most of the time. However, your camera will take what it thinks is right, it may be that you want something different.
Here is an example:
In this picture, I wanted to focus attention on the way the boats were tied up, so I told my camera to focus only on the knot at the top of the ropes and make the boats blurry.
If my camera was on auto it would have decided what the subject of my picture was and the result may have been different.
